This song Wanted Dead or Alive was written by Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora and released on their 1987 album Slippery When Wet. The song climbed to #7 on the charts.

Bon jovi said the lifesytle of rock and roll bands run parallel to that of outlaws riding into a new town. Both would steal money, women and booze and then ride off into the sunset.

That's where the inspiration came for this song early one morning on the tour bus when Bon Jovi couldn't sleep.

Its no secret that Bon Jovi was a fan of Bob Segers music and one of Segers songs, "Turn The Page", was very much responsible for the drive behind writing "Wanted Dead Or Alive". Bon Jovi told many audiences over the years that "Turn The Page" was directly responsible for him and Sambora writing this song.



The song begins with that infamous intro picking pattern which then ends on the D Chord. Im using drop D here in my example. All of the picking and rhythm and more is fully expained in my full version intructional tutorial from the link below. The chord in this one are D, C, G, F as well as Dsus in a few places.

This particular version of mine has no lead break. Its not practicalfor this type of song so I didnt try and create one. The tuning is also one fret lower than standard pitch, which Ive sen Bob Jovi do on some footage. I guess age makes you lose some vocal abilities.

You'll notice Im using pretty much an up and down pattern for the right hand except on the last line of each verse when I tend to use all downstrokes.

You also need to listen as there is some emphisis when yo uhit certian chords in this one. Youll hear this when I actually change from one chord to another. There is a bit of extra volume if you will when the chord is strummed.
