David Bowie, whose real name is David Robert Jones, was using the stage name Davy Jones for awhile. When it was confused with the Davy Jones of this group, he changed it to David Bowie.

These guys did not play any of their own instruments on their first two albums ... it was studio musicians who played all the music.

They had the largest grossing tour of 1986 with their Reunion Tour. Yes they eventually did play their own instruments.
