Initially this song was released in Mar of 1964 and was a flop. Simon and Garfunkel split and Simon went to England for a year. But their producer took the track and had an electric guitar, bass and drums added to the original. In Jun of 1965 the song was re-released and it reached #1 on New Years Day 1966.
The original title was The Sounds Of Silence and was released later as The Sound Of Silence.
