Welcome to this page called So Far Away chords where you'll find not only my acoustic demo on this hit
song by Dire Straits, but also the lyrics and tab showing the chords to this song. I also have a few tips in
this article.
So Far Away Lyrics And Background
This song hails from the 1985 album by Dire Staits called Brothes In Arms and was the albums 4th single.
In Europe the song was released as the first single, but in the North American market it was the 4th single.
It became a top 10 hit in many countries in Europe, including Norway, Switzerland and Sweden.
The song of course is about a long distant relationship which the author is getting a bit tired of living in
a dull rainly town and having phone sex while his lover is in sunny locations so far away.
The So Far Away chords I use are E, A, B and Dbm.(see the tab below and the free download in the left menu).
You can get away with playing mostly all downstrokes in this one and using your right hand to muffle the strings
a bit. You can use a dn-up-dn-up ... 1-2-3-4 on the E just before moving up to the B on the 7th fret.
Im playing the B chord down on the 2nd and 4th fret, but nothing stopping you from playing it up
on the 7th.
The riff can be played at the low end of the fretboard using the G string or in the middle of the fretboard
as you'll see me do both in the demo video. This is fully expalined in the full instructional tutorial.
The tricky part if any is singing and playing the riff at the same time as you'll notice on the last couple
of lines in the song.
I hope you found the info on this So Far Away chords page useful and informative. Feel free to Tweet about
