Neil Young is a huge collector of second hand guitars and even has a Martin D-28 from Hank Williams Sr, which his son Hank Williams Jr traded for some shotguns.



Every Oct for the past 20 years, Neil and his wife host the Bridge School Concerts out in Mountain View California which helps raise money for kids with disabilities. Springsteen, Pearl Jam and may top acts have played there. It's a one week event.

The lead singer for Nirvina, Kurt Cobain, was hugely influenced by Young so much that he even quoted this line in his suicide note back in 1994 ... Its better to burn out, than to fade away ... which is from Youngs My My Hey Hey.

He lives on 1500 acres in La Honda California but also has property in Fort Lauderdale and Hawaii.

Young now has the title of known as The Godfather Of Grunge. His middle name is Percival. Neil had a bout with polio at age 6 which affected his left side. He still walks with a bit of a limp because of that disease.

A sad part about the Neil Young biography is that his parents divorced when he was 11 and he moved with his mother to Winnipeg. That is where he began to seriously look at music. He is not only a musician, but has also directed and co-directed several films.

He and Stephen Stills were both founding members of the late 60's group known as Buffalo Springfield, who produced 3 records before their breakup late in 1967.

James Taylor and Linda Ronstadt sang backup for Neil on Heart of Gold. Both singers just happened to be in Nashville at that time for a Johnny Cash TV show.

Neil Young has had surgery to correct a condition known as a cerebral aneurysm ... which is a ballooning of the artery at the base of the brain.

Scott Young, a journalist, writer of more than 40 books and Neil's father, passed away in Kingston Ont in 2004 at the age of 87. Neil was born in Toronto and today in his 60's, he shows no signs of slowing down. He remains a Canadian citizen even though he lives in the US.
