Neil Diamond sang in the same school choir as Barbra Streisand while growing up in New York.

His first passion was to become a biologist and find a cure for cancer. But after being offered $50 a week to write songs, this was the path he chose.

The song Sweet Caroline can often be heard at New York Mets games in the 8th inning and at New York Rangers hockey games in the 3rd period when the home teams are leading.

Neil wrote the Monkees hit, "I'm A Believer". Red Red Wine became a bigger hit for UB40 then it did for it's composer, you guessed it, Neil Diamond.

In Jan 06, the Stockton City Manager paid Neil Diamond 1,000,000 to open the Stockton Arena. But because they never got it promoted much, the city went in the red by $400,000 and the manager go the boot!
