Another interesting part about the Kennys beginnings is like most beginning guitar players trying to learn on their first guitar, Kenny Chesney also suffered the "sore fingers" syndrome. And after taking several lessons in the fifth grade, Kenny called it quits.

Perhaps those sore fingers just needed time to mature as Kenny received his first guitar for christmas when he was 19. Guess mom and dad saw some talent deep within. And as we all know, those "sore fingers" were in fact, just temporary.

Before Kenny left for Nashville in 1991, he and some fellow musicians recorded several songs he'd written at a recording studio in Bristol VA. He sold all 1000 copies at some of his bar gigs and purchased a new Martin guitar with the profits.

Kenny paid his dues around Johnson City in bars like Chuckie's Trading Post and the Quarterback Barbeque. Part of his collection of "odd jobs" included valet parking, telemarketing and being a mailroom sorter.
