Below is a list of John Prine songs and some links to a few tutorials and lyrics I've completed to date
with more tutorials coming later on. I'm a big fan of John Prine music and I'm aware there are many folks who
like to learn his classics on the acoustic. Below is a brief history on this performer as well as some
video clips on the following pages.
John Prine, who started playing the guitar at age 14, was a US Postman before he started his career in music.
He also did a stint in the US Army for a period of time.
Prine started in the Maywood and Chicago area singing in various venues along with other artists and writers.
Kris Kristopherson was the one who supposedly found Prine and got him headed in the right direction and helped
launch his music career.
The first John Prine song that I learned on the guitar was Dear Abby. I mean, who didn't get a great chuckle
out of the lyrics the first time they heard that song. And it's a pretty simple song to play on the acoustic as its
mainly rhythm, with zero picking parts to learn.
John Prine continues to record and perform after more than 35 years in the business.
