John Mellencamp became a dad at age 17. His daughters name is Michelle. Mellencamp turned 58 in Oct 09.

John's Stage name, John Cougar, was a name he didn't agree with but his first manager went ahead with anyhow.

Mellencamp only had 1 single to ever top the Billboard top 100, and that song was Jack And Diane, which stayed at #1 for 4 weeks. But dont let that fool you ... this performer has sold more than 40 millions records globally and has had twenty-two songs make it into the top 40 in the US music market.

He also worked on the very first Farm Aid concert with Willie Nelson and Neil Young and is now an annual event to help Farmers. The organization he helped start has been helping farmers since 1985.

And something you may not have known about Mellencamp (yes that is his real surname), is that he has a deep passion for painting. And Rock and Roll finally inducted him into the Hall Of Fame back in March of 2008. Well deserved recognition in my opinion.
