Below on this page I'll explain to you how to play Woodstock By CSNY. Also on this page
you'll find my demo video clip and free tabs in the lower right hand menu.
This song was written in 1969 after the Woodstock festival in Aug of that year by Graham Nash's girlfriend at
that time, Joni Mitchell.
She never attended the festival because her manager thought it would be better for her to play a gig on the Dick Cavett Show ... yeah OK.
She saw reports on TV while in a hotel room and built the song from afar.
CSNY decided to record the song for their Deja Vu album.
The song peaked at #11 in the US for the group. Funny thing, CSNY had no idea where Woodstock
was even located and it was only their second time performing together onstage as a group when they
hit that festival, that's how new they were.
Joni Mitchell herself had recorded the song and a few other covers came out also over time, but it was the CSNY version that is most associated with
the Woodstock festival.
Check out the live performance from the video in the right hand menu.
How To Play Woodstock by CSNY Kirby Style
My version of this song differs somewhat from the original, especially the intro and lead break, which is
improvised. The chords here are G or a Gm (your call) C, A#, F and I'm using some bottom 4 strings on the 3rd
and 5th frets. Like I said, my version is slightly different.

You can easily play all down strokes for this song. Watch what I'm doing in the video demo above. Nothing
fancy here. The improvised intro and lead break are fully covered in the full instructional tutorial.
A great song for the acoustic but a bit high in spots. Grab the free tab in the right menu which you may find helpful.
