This song from The Status Quo hails from the album Whatever You Want which was released in 1979. The album peaked at #4 and the song itself peaked at #3 in the UK. The single didn't chart in the US.

Status Quo has been around since 1967 and are well known in the UK. They have charted more than sixty songs, with twenty-two reaching the top 10.

Over the years the band has changed members like all bands do. It's unlikely that there will be a reunion with past members. Francis Rossi and Rick Parfitt, who have been with the group from the beginning, will take the group into London's O2 arena in December 2011. They will also start their first all arenas UK winter tour.



I play this song in standard pitch with drop D tuning. The chords are D, Dsus, A, A7, F, C and G.

There is a lead break in this song but I've omitted it for this song because it's complex and fast and doesn't really work playing this as a single acoustic piece. All other sections in the demo below are fully explained in the full instructional tutorial.

This one starts off with a C, G, D and Dsus intro. After that I use all down strokes on the top two strings with an upstroke on the 5th fret.

Once we get to the actual start of the verse, Im playing a shuffle with a dn-up-dn-up-dn followed by 4 down strokes. Then a steady up and dn pattern can be used as you hang out on the D and Dsus.

I'm also using the A6th, up to the A chord on the 5th and then the A7 with an emphasis on the bottom E string. You'll hear this all thru the song depending on which version you listen to.
