Below on this page I'll explain to you how to play Tiny Dancer by Elton John. Also on this page
you'll find my demo video clip. If you read my notes and watch this clip it will help you learn this
song on the acoustic guitar.
Like many Elton John songs, he writes the music and Bernie Taupin pens the lyrics and this song is no different.
The song was a moderate success as a single when it was released back in 1971, peaking at #41. It wasnt even
released as a single in the UK. And being 6 min 11 sec long songs was very unusal for a radio single in 1971.
But over the years, like a bottle of fine wine, the song has become a favorite for concert go-ers
A few covers of the song have been recorded over the past few years including a 2002 version by country
superstar Tim McGraw. His version was also released as a single and peaked at #13 on the Adult Contemporary
chart.

How To Play Rhythm For Tiny Dancer
The rhythm for this song is pretty much one pattern ... up-dn-up-dn-up-dn etc except near the end where I repeat the 1st verse
and chop a few lines with either a dn-up stroke or you can use two downstroke. There isnt really any major picking pattern in this
song with the exception of the beginning.
How To Play The Main Riff Pattern For Tiny Dancer
This is a simple hammer on at the 3rd fret on the B string ... and when I switch to the F chord I do a hammer on at the 2nd fret on the
G string in the F chord formation. And while on the G chord, before going back to C to commence singing I use a walk pattern with the
open G string D string on the 3rd, 2nd, open back to C and start singing. The free tab in the right menu may be helpful.
