Kirby Style

As you can see from my clip below, Im playing this one with a capo on the 4th fret in D. The chords in the song are D, A, Bm, G, Em and A7.

In the intro Im simply using a Dsus and a few hammer-ons on the B string while on the A and Bm chords. On the G chord I also do a hammer on on the A string with an open D underneath.

You'll notice Im playing the A chord with my index finger across the bottom four and my baby finger up on the 5th fret bottom sting. This allows me to do a hammer-on on the B string at the 3rd and the D string on the 4th. This is used throughout the verses.

Rhythm For How To Play Some Fools Never Learn By Steve Wariner

For rhythm in this you can use a note-note-strum-note .. note-note-strum-note, with the strum being an upstroke. Or you can play all down strokes on this also. Just ensure the first "note" is the root note of the chord. The second note can be the following string or skip a string. Experiment and see which you prefer.

Because of the way the song is structured, you'll find you need a little extra time note-note-strum-note-hammeron-strum on a few lines in the verses. The chorus however doesn't have this. You'll notice a little riff with the D chord using a Dsus on the line "some fools never learn" back to the D and an open bottom E followed by the B string on the 3rd before moving to the G chord.

The picking riff for the break is fully explained in the instructional video tutorial from the link above.
