The Strumming Pattern
This song is mostly performed using downstrokes with the exception of the intro riff pattern (see below).
There are a few spots as you'll notice in the video where rhythm takes a quick jump. ie: before the line
"go ahead with your own life" there is a G, Gb, G, Gb , A , walk pattern on the top string. This will occur later in the song.
Again while on the E7 chord there is a quick jump on the top string Gb note to the G chord.

Here is what is happening in the beginning pattern ... we start of with the

This pattern above will be used throughout the song. On the first 0-10-9-10-10-10 you'll stay there and
do a bit of a shuffle strum as in the video. And the last 8-8-7-6-6 which is an A# chord, you may want to play
that with an upstroke.
