In this article I'd like to explain how to play My Back Pages by Bob Dylan on the acoustic and give you a free demo and a free tab on the song.
After returning from a trip to Europe, Dylan entered Columbia's Studio A in New York on the 9th June 1964 and recorded
14 songs for his 4th album "Another Side Of Bob Dylan".
Polising off a few bottles of Beaujolais wine during the session,
My Back Pages was completed at 1:30am on the 10th June 64. Three of the songs recorded that day did not make it onto this album.
This 4th album was not a commercial success and failed to reach the top 40 in the US but did peak at #8 in the UK. Many critics didnt like
the direction Dylans music was heading
after the albums release and Dylan himself in 1978 called the album a bit corny.
My Back Pages was recorded with only Dylan and his guitar
and was not performed live ... until 1988. You'll find the song on a few different albums besides the original album.
Something else interesting is that My Back Pages was not released as a single until 1993 as part of the 30th Anniversary Concert Celebration which featured Bob Dylan, Roger McGuinn, Tom Petty,
Neil Young, Eric Clapton and George Harrison on this track. It peaked at #26 in the US. The Byrds had their first top 40 when they recorded this in 1967.

Rhythm Pattern For My Back Pages By Bob Dylan
There are two rhythm patterns I use in this song. The first is a simply up and dn pattern and then just before I get to the last line
of each verse I switch to all downstrokes ... but you can use the up dn pattern here also. I use the downstrokes to add emphisis.
