Chords For How To Play Little Sister

You have an E-A and B7 with an additional chord by sliding the B7 up one fret. Also, if you play the C7 chord formation on the 5-6-7th fret, you'll get a variation of an E chord which is used during the verses.

The Strumming Pattern

This rhythm patten changes here depending on which chords you are on. For instance, in the beginning we'll do this .. with 2 downstrokes in the rhythm.

Note dn up dn dn Note up dn up --- this pattern can also be used on the B7 chord and the slide B7 chords as well as on the E chord on the 5th using that C7 formation. But on the A chord, I like to change the pattern to more of a rock and roll rhythm ... like this;

e--x--x--x--x--x--x--x--x----
b--2--2--2--0--0--0--0--0-----
g--2--2--2--0--0--0--0--2---
d--2--2--4--2--2--2--4--2----
a--0--0--0--0--0--0--0--0----
e---------------------------

On the last line of the verses it's a series of downstrokes.

The Intro Picking Pattern

This is simply a bend on the G note on the top string as shown in the video.

Main Verse Picking Pattern

This is simply a pull-off on the bottom e string on the 3rd fret to an open E ... followed by a pull-off on the B string at the 3 rd fret to an open B ... folowed by a G string sting on the 2nd fret pulled off to and open .. and finally the D string on the 2nd fret. Ensure you put some emphis on the D string on this last E chord.

e--3--0--0--0--x--x---------------------
b--0--0--3--0--0--0----------------------
g--1--1--1--1--2--0--------------------
d--2--2--2--2--2--2--2-------------------
a--2--2--2--2--2--2---------------------
e--0--0--0--0--x--x-----------------------

And on the word "run" .. use a quick slide on the B string 2nd fret and G string 3rd fret ... slide those uo one fret to the 3rd and 4th frets.

e------------------------------------------------
b-2-(sl)-3-3-3-3-----2-3-3-(sl)-2---------------
g-3-(sl)-4-4-4-4-----3-4-4-(sl)-3--0----------
d------------------------------------2-0---------
a----------------------------------------2---------
e------------------------------------------------

End Picking Pattern

You'll notice one quick slide and one short picking segment near the end. The first is during the change from E to the B7

e------------------------
b------------------------
g------------------------
d------------------------
a-------------0-1-2------
e---3 (sl)-4-------------

And the second is this:

e---3--0------------------------------
b--------3--0-------------------------
g--------------2--0-------------------
d-------------------2--0----------------
a------------------------2--0-------0-1-2--
e-----------------------------3-2-0----

That is how to play Little Sister by Elvis Presley on the acoustic. My advice for the rhythm is to play the song in slow motion until you get used to the accents ... then speed her up to normal speed.

Little Sister Lyrics

Little sister, dont you - (repeat)
Little sister, dont you kiss me once or twice
Then say its very nice and then you run
Little sistr, dont you do what your big sister done

Well, I dated your big sister
And took her to a show
I went for some candy .. Along came jim dandy
And they snuck right out of the door

Little sister, dont you (repeat)
Little sister, dont you kiss me once or twice
Then say its very nice and then you run
Little sistr, dont you do what your big sister done

Every time I see your sister
Well shes got somebody new
Shes mean and shes evil ... Like that old boll weevil
Guess Ill try my luck with you

Little sister, dont you (repeat)
Little sister, dont you kiss me once or twice
Then say its very nice and then you run
Little sister, dont you do what your big sister done

Well, I used to pull your pigtails
And pinch your turned-up nose
But you been a growin
And baby, its been showin
From your head down to your toes

Little sister, dont you (repeat)
Little sister, dont you kiss me once or twice
Then say its very nice and then you run
Little sister, dont you do what your big sister done x2
