This page only contains lyrics, demo and purchase button for now but eventually will be turned into a full
how to play article. Thanks for your patience.
The Chords For How To Play Imagine
The chords for Imagine are:
A - AMaj7 - D - E - Gbm - Cbm (or Bm) - Cbm/A - Db
This song allows you to get away with a simple downstrokes and playing the root note of the chord so you could do this for the introduction
starting with the A Chord.
AChord - rootnote - AChord - rootnote - AMaj7Chord - rootnote ... AMaj7Chord - rootnote ... DChord - Arootnote - DChord - Arootnote - DChord - Arootnote - DChord
followed by that open G string, G on the first fret and back to the beginning.
There is also a bit of a walking bass run in the line "Imagine all the people" when we shift to the Dbm to the Bm and then play
and open A string while on the Bm chord and followed by the Gb note with your thumb before you sing the line "living life in peace" ...
Near the end of the song its a good time to use an open E 6th string in the chord as you play the A major and the AMay7 chord
just to give it a much fuller sound.
A Slight Mod on the Db chord
Towards the end of the song I also like to modify this Db chord by moving my baby finger from the 4th fret on the A string
to the 4th fret on the G string before playing the D Chord.
I use one Bass run and its usually at the end of the chorus before starting the next verse. Now you can use it
before starting each verse or just on any specific verse. The run is simply the open E string followed by the
E on the 2nd fret and E on the 4th fret.
That is how to play Imagine by John Lennon on the acoustic. If you find it too high to sing,
simply remove the capo. Feel free to Tweet this page out to friends.
