Get It On by TRex

Marc Bolan, who was the lead singer for the band TRex in the early 1970's wrote this song and they put it on their Electric Warrior album in 1971. The song was a #1 hit in the UK and reached #10 here on Billboard. It was the groups only top 10 here in North America.

Just to be clear, if you see any clips with Elton John performing with the group, he was never a member of the band. But he did do guest appearances on other tracks for the band in the studio.

The band Power Station with former member Robert Palmer, recorded a cover in 1985 and had a #9 ranking in the US for their efforts. It's a great tune for the acoustic.

The tricky part about this one is the rhythm but the chrords are fairly simple. Chords Im using are E, A, and G. See, I told you it was an easy tune.

How To Play Rhythm For Get It On

How To Play Get It On Bang A Gong

For the rhythm here you'll start with all down stroks on the E and A chords. As you'll see in the demo clip, I change the position of the E chord to the 5th fret, but you dont really have to. Just a standard E in the "normal" position will work.

During the verse in a few spots, you'll wanna play the E chord using this pattern .. dn-up-dn-dn-up-dn-dn-up the first time and then on the second part you'll wanna play the same pattern again twice before heading to the chorus in G.

There are two small riffs near the end of the song which I fully explain in the full instructional tutorial.
