On this page I'd like to explain to you how to play Get Back by The Beatles. Check out my acoustic
demo clip and grab some free tabs in the lower right hand menu.
Get Back was one of the tracks on The Beatles last album called "Let It Be". The song was a huge international hit
in many countries and stayed at the top of the charts for weeks in both the UK and the USA when it was released
as a single in Apr 1969.
This song was put together from two different takes, one recorded on one day and another from another day, but
the editing was so slick you'd never know it. There was also a 3rd verse written for this song but it was
dropped by the group and never recorded.
A bit of trivia here for you Beatles fans. George Harrison actually quit The Beatles on Jan 10th 1969 right in
the middle of this album. So John Lennon worked out the leads break for "Get Back", and when Harrison returned
later in the month, Lennon played lead and Harrison played rhythm.
Get Back was also the first Beatles song released in stereo instead of the usual mono format. Billy Preston played
a piano break on the song and was the only artists ever to be credited with performing on a Beatles recording.
Depending on the version you listen you may hear John Lennon say "I'd like to say thank you on
behalf of the group and ourselves, and I hope we passed the audition". This was what John said after
there infamous rooftop performance back in 1969. It was edited into "Get Back".
How To Play Get Back by The Beatles Kirby Style
Not a tough song to play as this one only has 5 chords which are A, D, G, A7 and D7. Ive thrown in
A7 and D7 so in reality you can play this one in A, D and G if you'd like.
The beginning rhythm is dn-up-dn-up-dn-up etc on the A chord and two down stroke when you hit each G and D
chord.
Once you get into the singing you can use a shuffle pattern like this ... dndnup-dndnup-dndnup-dndnup-
dndnup-dndnup-dndnup-dndnup (chord change to D) and use the same pattern, followed by the down strokes on the
G and D like the intro.
In the first verse Im throwing in a quick bending riff on the B string with the E string underneath. But in the last
verse Im just playing rhythm.
The song has two guitar breaks and a piano break in them so Im playing both sections with the guitar obviously.
These riffs and lead breaks are fully explained in the full instructional tutorial.
I hope you found this How To Play Get Back by The Beatles useful and informative. If you're a Beatles
