On this page I'd like to explain to you how to play Easy By The Commadores. Check out my acoustic demo clip and grab some free tabs in the upper left hand menu.
Easy was released as a single in 1977 and climbed he charts to #1 on the Billboard R and B chart and #4 on the Top 100 chat for The Commadores in 1977.
There are several titles out there from "Easy" to "Im Easy" to "Im Easy (Cooler Version)" depending on which country you happen to live in.
Towards the end of the song if moves a half step from the G to the G#. Of course you can ignore this and repeat the chorus in G a second time if you'd wish.
Ritchie had many similar laid back kinda hits later on using this style inclusing songs like, "Still" and "Three Times A Lady". I you listen to "Easy" with
headphones on you can hear some background humming noise during the break. Not sure why this was left in.
There are two versions of the song. A longer album version and a shorter one for radio.
The chords you'll need for this are G, Bm, Am (open G string) and a D7 (open bottom string), F, Am (for real), Gmaj7, Fmaj7, A#, C, C#, G#, Cm, A#m,
D# and Gb. Just a few chords in this one.
There are two separate picking breaks during the bridge which I try and blend in with the rhythm but it moves pretty fast. These are fully explained in the
full instructional tutorial.

You can use two different patterns here. One for the verse/chorus and another for the break "I wanna be high" ... etc. The first pattern can be played as
dn-dn-up-dn-up- (change chord) dn-dn-up-dn-up (change chord).
Now when you hit the modified D7 you'll use 5 quick down strokes then back to the G. There
are a few other spots you'll also see a few down srokes used by watching te demo.
The second pattern change can be played as chop pattern using a simple dn-up-stop up-dn-stop dn-up-stop up-dn-stop etc. This part is a bit more tricky
to co-ordinate with your singing. Its also explained in the full tutorial.
As mentioned, the challenge with the lead break is you have to move quickly to hit the notes and then back to the rhythm again as you'llsee .. but
it can be done.
Check out the classic video in the right hand menu and grab the free lyrics and tab as well.
