On this page of this website you'll discover how to play Back Home Again by John Denver. This was a tune I heard
plenty of times growing up. There are also free tabs and lyrics in the right hand menu.
You may remember this song better if the title was "Hey It's Good To Be Back Home Again". But Back Home Again was the name of the 1974 album as well
as one of the singles from that album ... which I'm sure you'll remember from my demo below.
Some singers in country music didn't exactly warm up to Denver's style of so called folk country. In 1975 Charlie Rich, a well established
country artist, burned the envelope on stage which had the results for the CMA's Entertainer Of The Year, after announcing the winner was John Denver.
I played this song on many occasions thru the years and had many folks singing along. Back Home Again became a #5 hit on the Billboard Hot 100,
a #1 hit on the country charts and #1 on the Adult Contemporary Charts. No wonder everyone knew all the words when I played this one at a party.
How To Play Back Home Again by John Denver Kirby Style
You can play this song in E, the original key. I play it with drop D and a capo on the 2nd fret, so I'm still in the original key of E.
The chords in this are D, D7, G, A7, and Em.
As I've explained in the full instructional tutorial, you can play this song without any specific picking break. I did however throw
in a few slides and gave examples of a few things you can do with this song. But the song carries itself without any fancy guitar work.

How To Play Rhythm For Back Home Again
This is one of those classic country strums following the note-dn-up-bassnote-up-dn-up pattern. On the G chord you have the option of using the middle
open D string as your bass note, or the top drop D, which is what I'm using here.
Don't forget to grab the free tab in the right menu to help with the chord changes.
