It replaced Neil Youngs Heart Of Gold for the #1 spot and many folks thought the song was by Neil Young. When they realized it was by America, many were upset and thought the band was copying Youngs sound.

This song has also received a bad rap because of the reference to the term "horse", which is slang for "heroin", and so the drug connection was made. A few radio stations refused to play the song. But as we all know, it is one of Americas most recognized hits.
