Elvis Presley White Jumpsuit

Of course we all know that Elvis made most of his appearances later in his career, mainly during the 1970's wearing these famous jumpsuits. Not all of them were white. You've probably seem him performing in blue jumpsuits and in black jumpsuits as well as his famous Eagle jumpsuit.


Costume designer Bill Belew was the man behind designing the jumpsuites that Elvis wore onstage. The white jumpsuite was worn the most, especially in Las Vegas because they discovered that white absorbed the lights the best. Other colors almost made Elvis disappear, so white was the color of choice.

Belew said his designs were modeled after Napolean, the great French emperor. He also designed for other artists including Ella Fitagerald, Glays Knight, Joan Rivers and others. He passed away at age 76 on Jan 7th 2008.
