Welcome to this David Gates and Bread page. Here is a bit of info on this wonderful group as well as
a link to a few of the tutorials I have created. There is also a few unique videos, music books, DVDs and
more throughout this leg of the site.
The group was from Los Angeles and started up in 1969 as a 3-piece and expanded to 4 members by the
time their second record was released.
The band disbanded in 1973 after some in-fighting over what songs to record and which
singles should be A side vs B side.
Bread re-united in 1976 and toured in 1977 .. but after that, they packed it in pretty much as a group.
Each went their own way doing various projects.
They re-united again in 1996 for a 25th Anniversary tour which was very successful.
Two members, Jimmy Griffin and Mike Botts, both died in 2005 from cancer at the age of 61.
