CCR Singing Down On The Corner
Creedence Clearwater Revival was named as the best band in America by Rolling Stone in 1969.
In Feb 1971 Tom Fogerty left the group and CCR toured as a trio for a while. Creedence Clearwater Revival music was only
ever heard live twice more after their breakup. Once in 1979 at Tom Fogerty's wedding and again at their High School party in 1983.
CCR never had a #1 song in the USA. Five of their songs reached #2, but not #1, although they have
had #1 hits in other countries.
The drummer of CCR, Doug Clifford, was nichnamed Cosmos because of his facination with the cosmos and things cosmic.
The band lost a lot of their money when John Fogerty made a bad business decision to move money into a scheme
dreamed up by their manager at that time. Although more than 8 milion was awarded to the members in court in 1983,
they recouped very little of their money. Ever since then, John Fogerty and the rest of the band have had little to
do with each other.
In 1993 when CCR was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, John Fogerty would not perform Creedence Clearwater Revival
songs or play on stage with drummer Doug Clifford and Bassist Stu Cook. Instead, those two were banned from the stage and
Fogerty played with Bruce Springsteen and a few others instead.
Tom Fogerty died from AIDs in Sep 1990 due to bad blood used during his back surgery. His brother's wife brought Tom Fogerty's ashes in an urn to
join the reunion, but it never happened. I guess you could say that the riff between Fogerty and his brother and band members was
a pretty serious deal for something like this to happen.
