Bob Dylan Bio, Lyrics
Tutorials and more!

Id like to share with you some background information on this Bob Dylan bio page. His biography is long and extensive ... so I'll just cover the high points. You'll also find some links to a few Bob Dylan acoustic tutorial demos.

Bob Dylan is an icon in American music. He was born in Duluth Minn and is currently 67 and still performing.

Dylan, whose real name is Robert Zimmerman, started out his career liking blues and rock n roll, but then took an intense interest in folk music because it was more serious and realistic to real life. He adopted the name Bob Dylan in Aug 1962.

Woody Guthrie was Bob Dylans mentor and Dylan idolized him for his contribution to the music scene.

He was nearly dumped by Columbia Records when his first record only sold enough to break even. But Dylans producer John Hammond and the legendary Johnny Cash stood up to the record company on Dylans behalf.

Some say Joan Baez was responsible for getting Dylans career started by recording some of his material and having him as a guest singer during her shows. I guess you either like Dylans unique sound, or you don't.

During the taping of the Ed Sullivan Show, producers objected to one of his songs and asked him to make changes to the lyrics. It didn't happen, and Dylan walked instead.

Bob Dylan Bio

In 1966, a motorcycle accident caused Dylan to withdraw from public performances for about 8 years, with the exception of a Woody Guthrie memorial performance in 1967. His injuries from the bike accident were never disclosed to the public.

His comments at the Live Aid concert in 1985 were responsible for prompting Willie Nelson to create Farm Aid, which provides financial help to struggling farmers.

Another great part to the Bob Dylan biography story happened durng the late 80's when he teamed up with Tom Petty, George Harrison, Roy Obison and George Harrison to form The Travelling Willburys. They were a great success together as a group.

Dylan, who became a born again Christain in the late 1970's, has since advocated that he belongs to no one religious faith and instead finds music as his true religious experience.
